Tuesday is the man’s first court date since he was charged with more than 100 felonies and accused of killing seven people during the Highland Park Fourth of July parade. At 11 a.m., Highland Park resident Robert Crimo III, 22, is due to appear before Judge Victoria Rossetti in Lake County court.
Case management conference, a common session designed to make sure that evidence is exchanged and attorneys are working through any pretrial concerns, is scheduled for Crimo’s case. At management conferences, lawyers occasionally submit fresh motions or notify the judge that they will. But as of Monday, Crimo’s file at the Waukegan courtroom had not been updated with any further motions.

Late last week calls to the Lake County prosecutors and Crimo’s public defenders for comment on the matter went unanswered. Highland Park police declined to comment on the ongoing investigation on Friday, sticking to their standard procedure.
Crimo’s court appearance on Tuesday will be his first in a Lake County courthouse since early August, when he entered a not-guilty plea to 117 felony charges related to the July 4 parade shootings that killed seven people and injured dozens more. Crimo turned 22 in late September while being detained in detention at the Lake County jail where he is being held without release after that appearance on August 3.
He has been mentioned in a dozen lawsuits filed on behalf of parade shooting victims over the past three months. The complaints have named Crimo as well as the maker of the assault rifle that Crimo allegedly used to shoot more than 80 rounds into the crowd gathering in downtown Highland Park for the parade. Both Crimo’s father and the store where he purchased the gun are given names.
According to police, Crimo first eluded capture after the shooting by dressing as a lady and blending in with the crowd that was fleeing. A North Chicago police officer saw Crimo in his car on U.S. Route 41, which led to his arrest later that day. Within hours, authorities had identified him as a person of interest.
