HILLSBOROUGH – An accident that occurred early on Thursday morning at the intersection of Amwell and Marshall roads, which is approximately one mile west of Hillsborough High School, is being investigated by both the police department in the township and the office of the Somerset County Prosecutor.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald, the accident that occurred at approximately 6:37 a.m. resulted in the death of one person. The victim’s name has not been made public at this time.
Because of the accident, Amwell Road was closed between Beekman Lane and Auten Road during the morning rush hour, which caused traffic to back up on the surrounding side roads.

The inquiry is being carried out by the police department for the township as well as the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team for Somerset County.
