Police say that an accident in Holtsville on Wednesday night killed three teenagers.
At 9:43 p.m., a 2009 Infinity G37 driven by 16-year-old Cem Gunes and carrying a woman and a man went off the road near Division Street and crashed into a wooded area, according to police.
Gunes, who lived in Holtsville, Taylor Beltramini, who lived in Moriches and was 17 years old, and Landon Kromhout Auditore, who lived in Mastic, were all declared dead at the scene.
Police say Gunes only had a permit to learn how to drive and went too fast when the crash happened.
Inspector Darrel Simmons of the Suffolk County Police Department said two teens were thrown out of the car. Officials are still looking into whether or not they were wearing seatbelts.
Gunes went to Sachem East High School, News 12 has learned. The district said in a statement that it had activated its Crisis Intervention Team and that students and staff could get help if needed.

Gunes was seeing Adriana Barrington. She and her family went to the crash site to pick up anything they could find. They found a notebook, some schoolwork, and a sneaker that belonged to Gunes.
Barrington said, “I’m speechless.” “We were supposed to spend the whole Christmas break together, but now he’s just gone.”
According to a statement from the William Floyd School District, Beltramini was a senior at Floyd Academy, and Auditore was a senior at William Floyd High School. There were grief and crisis counselors in the district.
Beltramini’s friend didn’t want his face on camera, but he says she will be remembered for her big heart.
Jameek Collier said, “Taylor was a good person.” “It hurts to think she died so young, especially in a car accident. This is sad.”
The car was taken away so that its safety could be checked.
