St. Paul, Minnesota-based punk music band Hüsker Dü was formed in 1979. It was Bob Mould, Greg Norton, and Grant Hart that remained in the band for the rest of its existence. When they started out, they were known as a hardcore punk band. With Mould’s baritone taking the lead in alternating tracks and Hart’s higher-pitched vocals taking the lead in others, the band’s songwriters were Mould and Hart.
After releasing their debut studio album Everything Falls Apart on Reflex Records in 1983, the band followed up with three albums and an EP on SST Records, including the critically acclaimed Zen Arcade. For their final two studio albums in 1986, Hüsker Dü signed with Warner Bros. Records, a big label. In January of that year, they broke up. During the early 1990s, Mould released two solo albums, while Hart released a solo album on SST and then founded Nova Mob.

He was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2011, the same year he left Hüsker Dü. UltraBomb, Norton’s new band, was set to embark on their first UK tour when he announced the news on his Facebook fan page. “Doctors at Mayo Clinic feel I have a good chance of survival, but we must begin treatment and surgery immediately.
“UltraBomb dates in the UK and Scotland have been cancelled as a result of this. We’ll also be rescheduling our current tour in the US to give me time to recuperate and get back into the swing of things. “Sorry to everyone who had purchased tickets or was intending on joining our upcoming gigs in the United Kingdom and Europe. As I know you’re feeling down or frustrated, I’m irritated. I had hoped to be able to express how pleased I was to be returning to England after 35 years to play!”
A Gofundme account has been set up to assist with the cost of Norton’s medical care. Jamie Oliver, the drummer for the punk band The UK Subs, is behind the promotion for UltraBomb. In order to reach the campaign’s goal of $30,000, “Oliver,” says “We can’t even begin to understand the strain on him and his loved ones. One thing is for certain, however: healthcare in the U.s is exorbitantly expensive. To help relieve some of Greg’s financial burden, we’ve created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for his medical expenses.” Time To Burn, UltraBomb’s debut album, will be released later this year. Grant Hart, drummer and co-songwriter of Hüsker Dü, died in September 2017 of complications from liver cancer.
