BAYTOWN, TX – The Baytown Police Department says that a wrong-way crash caused major delays and stopped traffic for more than seven hours on the I-10 East Freeway at N. Main on Tuesday.
At about 2:40 a.m., a 2020 Toyota RAV4 was driving the wrong way on the highway and hit a 2007 Freightliner head-on. Baytown PD says that a woman who was taken to Memorial Hermann by Life Flight was driving a RAV4. Officers said they don’t know what was going on with her right now.
The driver of the Freightliner only had minor injuries, according to the police, and the Freightliner had moderate damage.
Investigators said that they don’t know yet if the woman was drunk.

The only traffic lanes that could move were on the feeder. Some drivers told Taisha Walker of KPRC 2 that they had to leave their cars because they couldn’t get out of the traffic.
TxDOT Houston says that the lanes are back open now that the wreckage has been cleaned up.
The cause of the crash is still being looked into.
