I-5 Lacey Accident: On Friday, a semi-tractor trailer was carjacked, crashed, and a Washington State Patrol officer was shot as a result of the crime. He declared, “We are currently negotiating with the person. Traffic was diverted from the interstate as a result of the accident, which caused issues with North Thurston Public Schools and the school bus service. This afternoon, I-5 is experiencing police action that is negatively affecting all district routes as well as the surrounding neighborhood. According to a district communication to parents, transportation is running at least 15 minutes behind schedule, if not more.
However, WSP released a statement at 5:25 p.m. claiming that the organization had been involved in an officer-involved shooting at the scene.
