Oregon’s BROWNSVILLE — Heavy fog caused a fatal collision involving dozens of vehicles, including semitrailers, on Oregon’s Interstate 5 on Wednesday.
According to Oregon State Police, one individual was killed in the multiple-car collision that occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway north of Eugene. The incidents on Wednesday morning, which stretched more than a mile and forced the interstate’s shutdown, included about 60 vehicles, up to 20 of which were semitrailers.
Six of the semitrailers were reported to be leaking fluids, and the Department of Environmental Quality reacted, according to the police. Several dozen stranded drivers were reportedly transported to a neighbouring truck stop by school buses sent from Eugene.
