According to a news statement from the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, an automobile and semi-crash in Mackford, Green Lake County, resulted in one death last Friday. Green Lake County Sheriff’s E911 Communications Center received many 911 reports of a motor vehicle crash on County Highway Q south of County Highway X in Mackford around 3:04 p.m. last week Friday.
In a press release, Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Matthew Vande Kolk said, “Callers suggested that the crash was a head-on collision between an automobile and a semi.” Emergency Response units arrived on the scene around 3:14 p.m. Officials soon discovered two automobiles involved, one of which was deceased, according to the announcement.

According to authorities, a green automobile was heading northbound on County Highway Q, while the tractor-trailer was traveling southbound. “The automobile abruptly entered the southbound lane and collided head-on with the tractor-trailer,” Vande Kolk said. The sedan driver, a 41-year-old man, died due to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the site, while the tractor-trailer driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Waupun Hospital with minor injuries, according to police.
“The vehicles came to a halt in the east ditch, where they remained until the site was removed at 8:58 p.m.,” Vande Kolk explained. The scene was helped by the Grand River Fire Department, Markesan Police Department, Markesan Emergency Government, and the Green Lake County Highway Department.
The inquiry was entrusted to the Wisconsin State Patrol. A medical flight from the University of Wisconsin was requested, but it was canceled before it arrived. For around six hours, County Highway Q was closed. Shortly before 9 p.m., the freeway was reopened. The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Wisconsin State Patrol to investigate this traffic accident.
The investigation is still underway. The accident happened just before 3:05 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022, with 911 calls to the County Communications Center reporting a motor vehicle crash on CTH Q, south of CTH X in the Town of Mackford. According to the callers, the collision was a head-on collision involving a car and a lorry.
When emergency responders got to the site, they discovered that there were two automobiles involved, one of which had a deceased occupant. A green sedan was heading north on CTH Q, while the tractor-trailer was traveling south on CTH Q, according to a preliminary inquiry. The vehicle abruptly entered the southbound lane and collided with the tractor-trailer.

For approximately 6 hours, the area was restricted to traffic. Grand River Fire Department, Markesan Police Department, Markesan Emergency Government, and the Green Lake County Highway Department all pitched in to help. The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Wisconsin State Patrol, is investigating the crash.
