Noel Fisher’s Career

At the tender age of 14, Fisher began his acting career. The Sheldon Kennedy Story, a biopic about the legendary ice hockey player, marked his directorial debut in 1999. Fisher received his first-ever nomination for a Gemini Award because of his performance. With the 2005 television series Godiva’s, he received his second nomination.

His appearance as Brian Gibbons in 2003’s Final Destination 2 was one of his earliest in Hollywood. Fisher rose to prominence in the public eye in 2007 because of his role as Cael, the scheming and astute son of Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver’s characters, on the FX series The Riches.

Fisher’s portrayal as Mickey Milkovich, a gay thug on Shameless from 2011 to 2021, earned him widespread recognition. He and Cameron Monaghan’s Ian Gallagher were deemed the best-written homos*xual couple on television by Vanity Fair in 2014. Fisher’s s*xuality is never confirmed in interviews, even though he is a heteros*xual man. He has finally addressed the criticism.

Mickey is not portrayed as a gay figure in my mind. From my perspective, he is just another person who identifies as gay. I find it strange that we, as a culture, attempt to label the LGBT community, yet they are no different from everyone else at their core. That’s because they share our human level of complexity. Ultimately, Mickey strikes me as a multifaceted human being.

Fisher was the main attraction in the 2017 National Geographic documentary series The Long Road Home. He took on the role of Pfc. Tomas Young is an Iraq War veteran who became a prominent anti-war activist after being paralyzed in an ambush shortly after his deployment. Fisher informed producer Mikko Allanne, “That’s how serious he was to getting it right,” that he would not accept the role without first meeting with Young’s family.

Among his many roles are those of Ellison “Cotton Top” Mounts in the critically acclaimed miniseries Hatfields & McCoys (miniseries), Vladimir, a 1500-year-old vampire in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, and Michelangelo in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.

He played Capone’s son Junior in the May 2020 release of the movie Capone, starring opposite Tom Hardy as the eponymous Al Capone. Both the CBS limited series The Red Line and the Hulu Castle Rock featured him prominently. In addition to Bones and Law & Order: SVU, his acting credits include Fear the Walking Dead and The Conners.
