‘S.W.A.T.’ is a U.S. action-drama television series based on a police procedural created by Aaron Rahsaan Thomas and Shawn Ryan.
Shemar Moore plays Sergeant Daniel Harrelson in the hit TV show, which has been nominated for multiple Primetime Emmy Awards.
Los Angeles-based S.W.A.T (Special Weapons And Tactics) follows a police sergeant who heads a highly trained task force tasked with finding and eliminating the most violent gangs.
The CBS website states:
“Torn between loyalty to where he was raised and allegiance to his brothers in blue, Daniel ‘Hondo’ Harrelson strives to bridge the divide between his two worlds and acclimate to his new duties as the legal guardian of a teenager.”
This show is praised for its ability to handle culturally sensitive topics, such as long-standing tensions between cops and African-Americans, and has been commended for tackling important themes of the times.
Meanwhile, S.W.A.T’s fans may be wondering if the TV show will return after its final episode of season 5, entitled “Farewell,” was aired.
‘S.W.A.T.’ to Have a Sixth Season?
The show’s leader Shemar Moore revealed that a sixth season production has been green-lit.
The American actor told his 4 million Instagram followers on April 9 to expect a new season of “kicking ass” to be released soon.
“”Aaaayyeeeee!!!! Homies, Fans, n Baby Girls!!!!! You heard it here first!!!!” @swatcbs is renewed for SEASON 6 !!!!!! Another year of Kicking Ass coming your way… ROLL SWAT BABY.” the actor wrote on Instagram.
S.W.A.T. premiered the first episode of its current season in October last year and has been running regularly except for a short hiatus in December and January. Tonight’s finale of the season ended on an explosive note.
As of writing, there are no details yet regarding the premiere date for the sixth season.
Taking into account the broadcast schedules of past seasons, the sixth season of SWAT can be expected between October and November 2022.
