A source told EW why is Pete Davidson leaving SNL after eight years. Natasha Lyonne will host the season finale, which will be his final episode.
Representatives for SNL were unavailable for comment at the time.
In 2014, Davidson joined SNL’s 40th season. One of the show’s youngest cast members ever at age 20, he was still an unknown. Due to his self-deprecating humor on the program and his high-profile relationships with celebrities like Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian, the now 28-year-old comedian has become one of the world’s most renowned comedians.

Stand-up segments on SNL’s Weekend Update, in which he joked about everything from mental health and sobriety to his upbringing on Staten Island, are possibly Davidson’s most well-known work.
Also known as Chad, he has appeared in several of the show’s most memorable music video parodies, including “Tucci Gang,” “Walking in Staten,” and “NFTs.” (A standout moment is his rap duet with Timothée Chalamet.)
Outside of 30 Rock and The Suicide Squad, Davidson has appeared in films including The King of Staten Island. To be released on August 5, his next project will be to play in the A24 horror film Bodies, bodies. He will also star in Peacock’s half-hour comedy series Bupkis, based on his own life.
Davidson had already hinted at leaving, and in a May 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he fueled exit rumors by remarking, “Honestly, I’m shocked I’ve made it this far. Ready to put away the jersey.”
