FLORIDA GROVELAND – A carjacking chase encompassed two counties, and three Lake County patrol cars were captured on video and described in 911 calls on Friday morning. The pursuit culminated in a collision with a school bus in the Groveland area.
According to Lake County deputies, the chase began before 6 a.m. when they located a stolen truck near Clermont. When Joseph Crawford, 23, allegedly observed the deputies while filling up the car with gas, he took off with the truck.
As they attempted to contain Crawford at a construction site, where he slammed another patrol car, deputies claimed Crawford rammed two patrol cars, rendering one inoperable.

He enters the building site in the bodycam clip. Now get out of the car! Crawford can be heard being yelled at by a law enforcement officer to “get out of the car now, show me your hands!”
Before Crawford eventually emerges and drives off, the official can be heard complaining to another deputy that the suspect is “stuck in the ground, spinning his wheels, and not responding to directions.” Following the stolen car, a 911 caller reported dispatching that the driver was “all over on the wrong side.”
A woman said, “He drives more on the wrong side of the road than the right.” It was a man who was driving. “I believe he crossed the fence and is now over the hills. As he pursues the culprit, a deputy can be heard stating, “He’s entered a neighborhood.
Crawford next succeeded in stealing a Ford Bronco, which deputies said he used to return to Lake County. According to the sheriff’s office, Crawford’s collision with a school bus carrying two adults and three children put an end to the chase in the Groveland neighborhood. On the bus, nobody was wounded.

When the crash occurred, the woman who had called 911 and dispatch was still on the phone. She said, “He just hit a school bus.” “He merely hit a school bus, that’s all. Oh my God, the place is on fire.
Crawford was sent to a hospital in the Orlando region with non-life-threatening wounds. In addition to three counts of aggravated violence on a law enforcement officer, he is accused of fleeing and eluding, grand theft, resisting law police, and resisting arrest.
