Jamie Roy, a DJ, and producer from Scotland have passed away. His family released a post on Facebook on Wednesday announcing the news (21 September). There was no mention of what exactly caused the death.
To paraphrase his family: We are all extremely crushed. Jamie was a highly loved and accomplished son, brother, nephew, and uncle, and loved by his many friends and colleagues both in and out of the music profession.
Roy got his start as a DJ in Glasgow’s clubs and later became a fixture at Ibiza’s Ibiza Rocks. The producer has been busy this year, playing a variety of gigs at clubs across Europe and even at Glastonbury. Roy’s 2021 single “Organ Belta” was released after fellow DJ Patrick Topping signed him to his label Trick. Recently, Roy posted an Instagram update on the single’s success.

Who is Jamie Roy?
It’s safe to say that Roy was a household name for many music fans. The Ibizan-born and raised artist started out as a DJ and musician. Roy also has a significant online following and is widely recognized in the Ibiza community. DJing at Nic Fanciulli’s Dance or Die shows in Ushuaia helped launch his career.
During his formative years, Roy spent a lot of time performing in Glasgow. Over the course of the next six summers, he continued to build a substantial network in Ibiza. Because of his natural DJ ability, he became a regular at Steve Lawler’s Viva Warriors party. After then, Roy continued to play at a wide variety of venues, including Pacha Ibiza, the Snowbombing Festival, the Ministry of Sound, and many others.

The death at age 33 has been confirmed by producer and DJ Jamie Roy. On September 21, his Facebook page was updated with the news that he had passed away. No details about the death’s cause were included in the report. “The death of Jamie occurred yesterday. Jamie was cherished by his family (parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces) and friends (musicians and those outside the field) for his warmth and talent. No one here can express how devastated they are.”
On September 23, Roy’s family sent an update in which they expressed gratitude to individuals who had reached out to them to offer condolences and support. “The outpouring of worldwide love and support for my family and I have been quite overwhelming. His fellow workers and associates have repaid him with high praise.
Jamie Roy will adore the acclaim. The funeral arrangements for Jamie will be released at a later date. In the depths of my aching heart, I thank you. A cherished brother and son, he was held in the highest regard.” The DJ from Dumfries, Scotland moved to Glasgow to launch his career, and then made Ibiza his permanent home, where he held down a residency at Ibiza Rocks.
After making the move from the Glasgow club scene to the White Isle, Roy has become a popular DJ on the island. According to EDMTunes, Roy performed at three festivals in 2022: the Palm Tree Festival in Croatia (together with DC-10 and Patrick Topping) and the Unum Festival in Albania. The producer has also performed at festivals and venues across Europe this year.

After releasing music on Repopulate Mars, Criminal Hype, Kaluki, and Under No Illusion, Jamie signed with Ultra Records in 2021 to release the highly awaited song “Fantasy” with Huxley and DJ Rae. Roy marked the first anniversary of his most well-known tune, “Organ Belta,” released on Patrick Topping’s Trick in the days before his untimely demise by posting an Instagram story about the song’s success.

As of September 19th, he had written to me. “Thank you so much, everyone; I’m the 46th best-selling house artist. Mixmag reports that on August 29 he performed his final set at Amnesia alongside Gorgon City, Sonny Fodera, DJ EZ, Huxley, Danny Howard, Ango Tamarin, Jodie Harsh, and Mark Knight. Many of Roy’s fellow producers have left touching comments on his most recent social media post, paying tribute to him.
