Former Republican candidate for governor Kari Lake is reiterating her plea for Katie Hobbs to be removed from office as she completes her first week in office.
According to a tweet from Lake’s campaign on Monday, Hobbs should be impeached as soon as the Democratic governor signs a decree requiring the usage of pronouns in public schools.
“Knowing that we were correct is a genuinely taxing sensation. And that Arizonans are aware that we were correct, “said Lake. “But in order to prevent this nonsense from happening, they were denied a free and fair election. Is it appropriate for us to feel vindicated while seeing the state’s utter destruction?”

While the Arizona Legislature is currently considering a new Republican-led bill that would forbid teachers from addressing pupils by their preferred gender pronouns without parental approval, Hobbs is not seeking to mandate the use of pronouns. Hobbs, however, has the authority to veto such legislation in his capacity as governor.
Even though Hobbs has been governor for a whole week, her opponent has persisted in refusing to recognize her victory and insists that she is the legitimate victor. By more than 17,000 votes, Hobbs prevailed.
Lake has even taken the matter to court, filing an election complaint in which she claims that fraud tipped the midterm results against her. The Maricopa County court rendered a decision against Lake last month, finding that “every single witness” who testified during the two-day trial disputed her allegations of election fraud.

Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor and the president of West Coast Trial Lawyers, stated that Hobbs had already taken office as governor and that Lake’s appeal would take weeks or even months to be decided.

Hobbs appeared to take aim at Lake in her first State of the State address, which she delivered to state lawmakers on Monday. She said that pursuing conspiracies, advancing the causes of special interests, impugning the rights of your fellow Arizonans, or working to further undermine our democracy would all be fruitless.
Hobbs claimed in her address that teachers in Arizona were leaving in large numbers because they were “caught in the center of crises of our own creating.” The governor claims that the state has the highest national teacher turnover rate.
In order to “better class sizes, resources, working conditions, and other issues” for Arizona teachers, she announced the formation of an Educator Retention Task Force.
