Hanno Hackfot, Richard Kropf, Bob Konrad, and Elena Senft are the brains behind the German action thriller TV show Kleo. The show debuted in 2022 on Netflix (best movies on Netflix). Kleo Straub, an East German Stasi assassin, is the protagonist of this narrative, which chronicles her journey of vengeance after her capture and imprisonment leading up to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Artists including Jella Haase, Dimitrij Schaad, Julius Feldmeier, Vladimir Burlakov, Vincent Redetzki, Marta Sroka, Yun Huang, Alessija Lause, and Thandi Sebe are included. Season two has been ordered. Kleo’s debut season was well-received by critics.

Kleo Season 2 Storyline
Kleo Straub must assassinate a ‘CIA Agent’ in The Big Eden before the Berlin Wall falls. She enters a tunnel dressed as a lone female spinster looking to dance and party to entice a target carrying red luggage. She lures him onto the dance floor and corners him to sniff blow. Then he dies. A bar patron notices Kleo’s knife and is attracted to her. She’s not interested in him.
Kleo returns to her boyfriend and Stasi senior Andi after eliminating the target. Uwe uses addictions to regulate his impulsive behavior. He’s Andi and Kleo’s close friend and fellow agent. The next day, she dances and eats cake with her granddad. She soon learns he betrayed and conspired against her. She’s jailed for spying. Kleo, stripped of his official standing, must uncover painful truths.
As each show progresses, the producers deny real-life events. Many characteristic themes would relate to the two states abandoning Communism and the Soviet Union’s influence over East Germany. As socialism spreads in the East, Westerners with restricted access to the East are protected by regulations. Thilo, a junkie who has taken over Kleo’s flat, becomes a vital part of her life, helping her realize her world is changing.
Kleo’s socialist tendencies cause her to grow up. Her grandfather’s objection belittles her freedom-seeking dreams. She knows her only chance of survival is to follow his orders and become the best Stasi agent East Germany has ever had. Ramona. Everyone following Ramona is in her shadow because her location and status remain unclear.
With Sven, a former Western German Police Agent affiliated with Federal Intelligence Agent Min Sun, on Kleo’s tail, things change when Sven finds a 30-second window to play the last card. Kleo has found the double agent who took the Red suitcase when the target was eliminated in 1989 when Ramona is shown to be Andi’s wife in the present.
Kleo and her grandfather know Jorge. Only a friend could have his suitcase. Working in a pair saves Kleo’s life when Ramona tries to kill her to find the suitcase. Kleo and Sven find Ramona’s suitcase after Sven sneaks into her hotel room and finds a map marked with a red cross.
Kleo and Sven survive a terrifying automobile chase to learn Ramona’s water breaks and she must deliver immediately. Kleo changes her mind and swallows her emotions. Despite Ramona’s hormones, she focuses on the future and continues forward with Sven.
With the Scorpions’ German translation of Winds of Change playing in the background, we as an audience should remember when they performed ‘Chippin Away’ in front of the Brandenburg Gate on November 21, 1989.
This performance comes 11 days after the wall fell. Artists celebrated this historical time. After the band played and Kleo met her mother when the borders disappeared, one couldn’t help but note the film’s closeness to reality. Could we situate her assassinations of Stasi agents between these 11 days, demonstrating her quickness and skill?

Kleo Season 2 Release Date
We don’t know if there will be a Season 2 of Kleo because Netflix Germany hasn’t announced it. There’s no telling if the showrunners have plans for what will happen after Season 1. The renewal is contingent on Kleo’s success even if they do. Assuming Kleo is picked up for a second season, we wouldn’t expect it to premiere until late 2023 at the earliest, and that’s if the screenplay is finished.
