Kung Fu Season 3 Storyline
Wednesday’s season 2 finale of Kung Fu featured Zhilan’s ultimate sacrifice to save Nicky, Mia, and the world from the evil crime lord. Nicky, portrayed by Olivia Liang, felt that Zhilan’s noble act brought the guardian and warrior full circle after being at odds for two seasons.
The final line, “Go home, young monk,” brought tears to Liang’s eyes as he read it, he tells TVLine. “Man, how has that become a term of endearment when he has been poking fun at Nicky for being a Shaolin?”
Is Zhilan dead, though? The martial arts superstar is doubtful. Saying, “It can’t just end like that. She says, “I hope we see more of [Nicky and Zhilan’s] chemistry next season.” We’ve brought magic into the world, so it wouldn’t be entirely out of the question if she made it. However, I am unsure about your intentions.
Near the end of the hour, Nicky’s Shifu Pei-Ling is spotted in the physical world, near the Golden State Viewpoint trail, suggesting that some sort of sorcery from the spirit world has released her from the hereafter. Who is it? “Is it Pei-Ling, or is it Xiao, or who?” Further, Liang says, “if the magic did release whoever was in that dimension, then I’m excited to see who else comes out.”
In the meantime, Henry, who held his father’s lifeless body in his arms as they reconciled, made it his mission to learn everything he could about his father’s fascinating life. Because of the distance and time apart his new assignment would require him to spend with Nicky, they mutually decided that a breakup was in their best interests.
Liang acknowledges that “Hicky” supporters would be devastated by this but assures them that this isn’t the end. It’s clear that neither person wants to end the relationship, but she says that “life circumstances” are to blame for the rift. I know the fans will be sad to see them go their separate ways, but I assure you this isn’t the end for them!
