Lake County Events —
ESCAPE THE MODERN WORLD
It’s that time of year as autumn dawns near; The King needs your help to support The Lake County Educational Foundation. Founded in 1987 a group of business leaders identified a need to provide homework assistance to low-performing students. With the intent to provide this support the “Dial-A-Teacher” program was formed. In 1988 the name changed to the Lake County Education Foundation.
The Lake County Educational Foundation provides a conduit between the community and the Lake County Public Schools. By evaluating needs and securing resources the Foundation is able to help both teachers and the students become successful by providing a better learning environment.
The Foundation is active year round providing programs that include: Back to School Backpack Fairs, take Stock in Children, Teacher of the Year, Rookie Teacher of the Year, Employee and Volunteer of The Year, Apple-Mart, Find It Fund It and New Beginnings.
Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire —
Started in 2002, last year’s Renaissance Faire attracted close to 20,000 visitors and over 2,700 students on Education Day. This year marks the Faire’s 15th Anniversary and is guaranteed to be a fun filled Family event. This year the Faire has partnered with “Medieval Times” out of Orlando to provide a live demonstration of “Fighting of the Arms”, a MUST SEE that will have your family young and old wanting more!
And YES … There is plenty more for all ages. Entertainers are brought in from all over the country. From the Musical Madams to the side splitting antics of the “Washing Well Wenches” the entertainment will have you laughing, cheering and singing along.
Artisans fill the Shire. Walk among them while they practice their crafts in; blacksmithing, leather works, pottery, sculpture, candle making, jewelry, and garb such as corsets, head covers, kilts and more!
Join in the Adventure —
See a Live Combat Chess Match as rivals meet in sword-crossed conquests. My favorite event and very possibly yours also… Cheer for your favorite Noble Knights as they fight to defend their honor on the field of battle in armed combat at the Joust. There will be but ONE VICTOR!
Educational Foundation of Lake County Community Outreach Liaison Audra Dick, “The Faire is a way to bring history to life in our own community.” “This is about bringing families together in a day of fun to support the future in education of Lake County students.”

A great event with a great cause that supports the future leaders of our community – OUR CHILDREN. So put away the electronics for a day and have a family day at this year’s Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire.
