A Lake County corrections officer has been arrested and charged with buying marijuana, Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Fred Jones said.
Agents for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement stopped Joshua Crotty’s vehicle at about 8:30 Wednesday night after receiving an anonymous tip that Crotty was buying marijuana, Jones said.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and found a mason jar they suspected contained marijuana in the back of Crotty’s vehicle. It tested positive for the drug, and Crotty was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail on charges of purchasing more than 20 grams of marijuana, Jones said.
Crotty has worked at the Lake County Detention Center for more than 10 years, the report said. He is on suspension pending his termination, Jones said.
