The Lake County Commissioners announced on August 25 that the Lake County Mobile Food Pantry will continue to offer free vegetables to Lake County seniors with weekly distributions at locations throughout the region. On Tuesdays from 10 to 11 a.m., Laketran will deliver goods to the neighbourhood in a 12-person Dial-a-Ride modified with shelving in place of standard passenger seating.
Commissioner John Hamercheck remarked, “We are lucky to have the resources to support our seniors. “I would want to thank everyone who helped with the execution of this excellent service. The Wickliffe Senior Center, the Laketran Mentor Park-n-Ride, the Lake Erie Church of God in Madison, New Hope Baptist Church in Painesville, and the distribution dates through March 2023 were just announced by Laketran.
According to Commissioner John Plecnik, “it is certainly a great joy to witness exactly how hard our community works to ensure that every resident of the county is supported.” “God’s job is being done by our volunteers.” The board stated that seniors 60 years of age and above may sign up for one pickup per month. Participants must attest that their annual gross household income for households of one and two is at or below $25,759 and $34,839, respectively. For the 100 spaces available each week, pre-registration is necessary.

• Wickliffe Senior Center: September 20, October 18, November 15, December 20, January 17, February 21, and March 21.

The Lake County Council on Aging, Lake County Senior Services, Lifeline, Inc., and the Greater Cleveland Food Bank have joined forces to create the pantry program. According to officials, the organizations work together to collect food donations and each is involved in taking reservations, supervising volunteers, and distributing food. Commissioner Mark Tyler continued, “It requires cooperation and coordination to put together something as outstanding as the (Lake County) Mobile Food Pantry.
“Every agency participating has done a fantastic job.” In total, 8,618 people received assistance from the pantry last year, and 388,440 pounds of food were distributed. For program reservations, Lifeline and the Council on Aging handled 3,000 calls, while the Lake County Volunteer Network provided more than 3,100 volunteer hours to keep the program running.
