Here we are talking about Leslie Jordan cause of death, as one of Hollywood’s (and Instagram’s) most adored comedians, it’s understandable why fans have questions about how Leslie Jordan died and what his cause of death was when he went.
Leslie Allen Jordan, better known simply as Jordan, entered this world on April 29, 1955, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For his acting debut, he was cast in the pilot episode of The Fall Guy on ABC in 1986. He then went on to star in numerous television shows, including Murphy Brown, Will & Grace, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Star Trek: Voyager, Caroline in the City, Pee-Playhouse, Wee’s Reba, Boston Public, Boston Legal, Nash Bridges, American Horror Story, and Hearts Afire, where his distinctive Southern drawl became an instant hit.
He is arguably best recognised for his portrayal as Beverly Leslie in NBC’s Will & Grace, in which he played Karen Walker’s snobbish, sexually ambiguous adversary. In 2006, the Primetime Emmy Awards recognised him as the year’s Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his work on the show.
At the time of his death, Jordan had more than 5.8 million Instagram followers, a majority of which occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in October 2020, Jordan discussed how quarantine affected the path of his career. “I’m the only person that just used the pandemic to soar to new heights,” he remarked.
“Because we were hunkered down and didn’t have much to do and I was in Tennessee with my mom and my identical twin sisters, who are 22 months younger than me…. I just started doing funny things on Instagram and [amassed] 5.5 million followers.” He continued, “I just wish it didn’t happen. I’m 65. Can I take a nap if it’s okay with you? It’s ridiculous, I tell you. I don’t understand why this didn’t occur while I was in my twenties. I’d have messed it up. And I’ve just begun, so we’ll see.

How did Leslie Jordan die?
Jordan died in Los Angeles on the morning of Monday, October 24, 2022. He was 67 years old. At the time, TMZ reported that Jordan had died after crashing his BMW into a building at the corner of Cahuenga Boulevard and Romaine Street in Hollywood due to a medical emergency he had while on his way to filming for FOX’s Call Me Kat.
TMZ also said that the team on Call Me Kat became concerned when Jordan hadn’t arrived for more than an hour after his call time, which is when they realised he had been involved in a tragic vehicle accident. There was a white tent and yellow caution tape at the scene, and Jordan’s car was smashed through the side of a white building with huge glass windows, according to a photo obtained by TMZ. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to People that the accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. PT.
“The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan,” Jordan’s agent David Shaul said in a statement to People after his death. “He was not only a huge talent and a pleasure to work with, but he also offered the nation an emotional haven during a time of great strife.
In spite of his short stature, he made up for it by being a generous and wonderful son, brother, artist, comic, partner, and human being. The only comfort we can take refuge in today is knowing he has left this earth at the pinnacle of his personal and professional achievements.
Sean Hayes, Jordan’s Will and Grace co-star, also wrote in a tweet at the time: “My heart is broken. If you ever get the chance to work with Leslie Jordan, you’re in for a treat. Absolutely everyone he met adored him. Throughout all of history, no one has ever come close to matching him. A remarkable skill with a large, compassionate heart.
My heart breaks for you, dear friend. George Takei also tweeted: “I am stunned at the loss of Leslie Jordan, who entertained us with his many appearances on television and film. The cause of death was an automobile crash after he encountered a medical emergency. We are devastated by your passing, Leslie, and we will miss your infectious laughter and unique personality. After learning of Leslie Jordan’s death, Ellen DeGeneres wrote on Twitter, “I just learned about her. Unimaginably sad, this is. His presence brightened the room. My deepest sympathies go out to his loved ones.
Leslie Jordan Cause of Death: All Information
According to TMZ, Jordan died from what appears to have been a medical emergency just before his car crashed. According to TMZ’s reporting, Jordan had been experiencing shortness of breath in the three weeks leading up to his death, and he had an appointment with a cardiologist scheduled for the week after his death to have his heart examined. Other than the shortness of breath, sources told TMZ that Jordan was healthy, but did have COVID-19 in 2021.
Before his death, Jordan had also been open about his struggles with alcohol and drug addiction, which he didn’t become sober until he was 42 years old. In an interview with The Guardian in 2020, Jordan explained that he started using drugs after he moved to Los Angeles in 1982 and became involved in West Hollywood’s gay club scene. In retrospect, he admitted, “It started on the dance floors and then it just escalated to where I’d get high at home and forget to leave the house.”
Jordan got involved with Project Angel Food, a Los Angeles charity that provided meal delivery to people living with HIV/AIDS, in the early 1990s. He also started helping out with a programme called Project Nightlife, where he and other volunteers would talk to and comfort AIDS patients in their final hours. “I still had a little bit of a drug problem back then,” he admitted. “I and my friends would do little bumps of crystal meth, then go dancing, so I’d be up all the next day and go sit with folks. Have a smoke and a chat while you wait. One positive aspect was that they weren’t alone. Those who spent time with me thought I was great fun.
At age 42, after Jordan had done time in prison for three DUI convictions in a single year, he decided to give up alcohol and drugs for good. “I ended up in the pokey,” he claimed. “That’s what I advise people: if you want to get sober, try 27 days in the LA men’s county jail. That should wake you up to reality. While in prison, Jordan also met Robert Downey Jr., another celebrity who has spoken publicly about his own battles with substance abuse.
He was 42 years old when he finally decided to get sober. “I got thrown in the clink,” he moaned. That’s why I recommend the Los Angeles County Men’s Jail as a place to get clean and sober: 27 days. In other words, that should wake you up to reality. They told me, “We can’t accommodate him, he’s waiting below, but we can’t release you until 2 a.m.”

After bars closed in California, Jordan revealed, he and Downey Jr. shared a cell until Jordan was released. Downey Jr. didn’t recognise him the second time they worked together in 2001 on the set of Ally McBeal. The speaker questioned, “Didn’t we?” Are you?’ and I responded, “Yep, 152, pod A, cell 13, you were top bunk, I was bottom,” he added.
