Chicago’s OLD TOWN – A renowned rooftop bar and event venue at the Hotel Lincoln was the scene of a shooting that killed a 35-year-old man this morning.
With views of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan, the rooftop bar and event space known as The J. Parker is frequently regarded as one of the best rooftop locations in the city.
The incident took place around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday inside The J. Parker, the rooftop bar and event area above the Hotel Lincoln in the Old Town section of the city’s near north side on the 1800 block of N. Clark Street.
At the aforementioned location, two men allegedly got into a disagreement that turned violent. One of the men allegedly grabbed a gun and shot the other. The 35-year-old victim was taken by the Chicago Fire Department to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his status was initially rated as critical due to a gunshot wound to the chest.

A short while later, the man passed away from his wound.
The perpetrator left the area. The shooter is a black male, around 5’10”, who was sporting a white/tan hoodie with cutoff sleeves and a dark logo on the front, dark blue trousers, a red belt, white and red sneakers, and a long gold chain at the time of the incident, according to SPOTNEWSonIG and local scanner chatter. The gold chain was left at the site, and technicians will process it.
There were no additional reported injuries, and nobody is in custody. Detectives in the area are looking.
The rooftop area, known as The J. Parker, is frequently regarded as one of the nicest rooftop spaces in the city, with views of Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan.
