Live Updates On The Russia-Ukraine War: Russia ‘Ready’ To Continue Talks With Ukraine; Zelenskyy Claims Moscow Is Trying To ‘erase History’

According to the Ukrainian army, Russian airborne troops landed in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv on Wednesday, sparking immediate clashes. “Russian airborne troops landed in Kharkiv… and attacked a local hospital,” the army said in a statement on messaging app Telegram. “There is an ongoing fight between the invaders and the Ukrainians.”

Russian forces are attempting to obliterate Ukraine’s past, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who voiced fear that Russian attacks might jeopardize sacred religious sites. Zelenskyy decried a Russian strike on the Holocaust memorial site Babi Yar in Kyiv in a speech uploaded on Facebook on Wednesday.

This is beyond humanity, he remarked. For many Russians, a missile attack like this signifies that our Kyiv is completely alien. They have no knowledge of our capital or our history. They’ve been given orders to obliterate our country’s past, as well as all of us. What will happen if Babi Yar is attacked, and what other military targets, NATO sites, are under threat from Russia? He inquired about St. Sophia’s Cathedral, the Lavra, and Andrew’s Church, all of which are important to Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox believers all over the world. Since the assault began last Thursday, over 6,000 Russian soldiers have been dead, according to Zelenskyy.

Meanwhile, devastating Russian air attacks damaged a residential block in Ukraine’s second city of Kharkiv and the country’s major TV tower, according to Kyiv, with Ukraine’s president accusing the Kremlin of committing a “war crime” as the invasion’s civilian toll rose.

Despite sanctions and humanitarian concerns, the new attacks on day six of Russia’s invasion occurred as a vast military convoy approached the capital, and Moscow ordered scared civilians living near security installations to flee their houses.
