The coroner’s office has formally determined that Logan Williams’s death was caused by an accidental drug overdose. A report from Canada’s BC coroner service states that the 16-year-old actor from “Flash” died of “unintentional illicit drug toxicity (fentanyl)” by accident.
The levels of fentanyl found by toxicological testing are within the range where fatalities have been documented. The paper, dated May 10, stated that even trace levels of fentanyl can be harmful. Williams, who rose to fame as a young Barry Allen on “The Flash” on The CW, passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2020, a few days before his 17th birthday, which was on April 9.
After her son Williams fought an opioid addiction for three years, his mother Marlyse Williams announced last year that lab reports indicated he died of a fentanyl overdose. Now, all she wants is for Williams’ story to get people talking about addiction so no other mother has to go through what she did.
His passing will not have been in vain, Marlyse assured the New York Post in an exclusive interview that was published in May of 2020. “He’s going to help a lot of people down the road.”
According to Marlyse, Williams’ addiction was kept “under wraps” by his family because of “the judgment,” “embarrassment,” and “criticism,” but they nevertheless did everything they could to support him.
She said that in the summer of 2019, she remortgaged her house to pay for Williams’ treatment at a pricey American and British Columbian clinic. “I did everything humanly possible — everything a mother could do,” she told the Post. “I did everything but handcuff him to me to try to keep him safe.”
Marlyse said she last saw her son four days before his death, when they enjoyed a home cooked meal together: “He said to me, ‘Mom, I’m gonna get clean. I’m going to get better. And I want my new life to start.'”
According to IMDb, Williams appeared in eight episodes of the CW superhero series before his final appearance in 2015’s Season 2 premiere. His other television credits include “When Calls the Heart,” “The Whispers,” and “Supernatural.”
