A person who reportedly attempted to steal a truck early on Friday morning has been arrested and has been taken into the Salt Lake County Jail. Around 5 a.m., 44-year-old Salvado Lagunas was taken into custody. for aggravated robbery, disarming a police officer, obstructing commerce, obstructing justice, assaulting an officer, and disorderly conduct investigations.
Police from Salt Lake City were initially dispatched to the 1150 S. According to a police booking affidavit, Lagunas allegedly “had a huge knife” and was “scaring staff” on Gladiola Street. According to the complaint, Lagunas had moved across the street and was attempting to steal a man’s pickup when police arrived.
According to the affidavit, “the driver said that (Lagunas) had the knife in his hand while attempting to seize possession of the vehicle.” The complainant claimed that the conduct of the Lagunas forced them to halt regular company operations.
Lagunas reportedly resisted being put in handcuffs by keeping his arms close to his body’s center, according to police. He then attempted to take hold of an officer’s gun but was repelled and forced to the ground as police placed him in handcuffs, according to the affidavit. The police officer’s revolver remained in its holster.
