A first look teaser for MaXXXine, a new movie that takes place after the events of Pearl and X, featuring Mia Goth, has been published. After Pearl had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the third entry in the X horror series was formally revealed. Mia Goth will reprise one of her two parts from X in MaXXXine, a sequel that picks up after the events of X. After doing the same for X and Pearl, Ti West returns to write and direct. MaXXXine’s first look teaser has also been released; you can view it below, courtesy of A24 on YouTube.
In MaXXXine, Maxine (Goth), the lone survivor, pursues her quest for stardom by attempting to break into the acting world in 1980s Los Angeles. Producing the movie are Ti West, Jacob Jaffke, and A24. Goth oversees production. Harrison Kreiss and Kevin Turen are additional producers. When the movie will be released is yet unknown.
Maxxxine Plot & Characters
Pearl, the second film in the franchise and its prequel, had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where it was met with praise from film critics and audiences alike. On Monday, it made its North American premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. On Friday, September 16, it will be available in a broad variety of cinemas. The story takes place several decades before the events of X, and Goth reprises her role as the future psycho-biddy Pearl in this film. Goth describes her character as “here a starry-eyed country girl with a short fuse and a deadly ambition.”
Regarding the accomplishments of the X, producer Peter Phok was quoted as saying to MovieWeb, “It has been incredible to be a part of something that starts as an idea and moves from script to screen.” “Since it was made available to the public, X has progressed to new heights. It’s already out there and has become ingrained in popular culture. Along with all of the memes and references, the overwhelmingly positive feedback that X has received from fans and critics is astonishing and entertaining.”
Phok said the following regarding the decision to expand the story into a trilogy: “In a prequel that takes place sixty years before X, Mia Goth gives a performance as Pearl that is both profound and complex. Ti is excited about the possibility of bringing this world to a satisfying conclusion with a film trilogy and carrying on his tradition of delivering something fresh and innovative.”

Maxxxine Renewal Status
In March of 2022, the first version of the movie X was made available to the public. It pays homage to the iconic slasher flicks of the 1970s like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre by taking place during that time period and setting it in the 1970s. The movie was a huge success for A24, exceeding the company’s projections for its box office take and receiving an extremely high score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Ti West’s decision to make the series into a trilogy appears to have been solidified as a result of the widespread acclaim that the series has received over the years, particularly in light of the success that Pearl has had at various film festivals. MaXXXine does not yet have a release date that has been revealed, however, Pearl is scheduled for release on September 16, 2022.
