Michael Francis Buckley, 93, passed away at Heatherwood Retirement Community on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 8:25 a.m. He was Diane Rita Buckley’s devoted spouse, and the two were wed for 68 years.
Michael was created in New York. He was Michael and Sara Buckley’s son. Michael was delighted to have graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. Michael earned a business bachelor’s degree from Pace University in New York City. He was the director of commercial sales for New York City at American Airlines. After leaving American Airlines, he started working for US Air as the director of retail sales for Washington, DC.
Michael was a third-degree Knight of Columbus member, a parish council member, and a member of the Church of the Nativity in Burke, Virginia. He belonged to the SKAL travel group as well. Michael cherished spending time with his vast family, swimming, and playing golf. He will be remembered for his love, benevolence, friendliness, and caring nature.

In addition to his wife, Diane Rita Buckley, Michael is survived by his seven children and their wives, his 22 grandchildren and their spouses, and ten great-grandchildren. These are his marriages and children: Sean and Young Buckley, Peter and Toni Buckley, Denis and Delores Buckley, Paul and Patty Buckley, Michael and Jean Buckley, Jane and
Steve Schwarz and Maryann and Brian Metress are some examples of the Buckley family. Kelly and Justin, Michael, Thomas, Sarah and Brendan, Sean Jr. and Crystal, Nicolas and Reashell, Robert and Erin, Brian and Ashley, Tyler and Madeline, Kyle, Michelle, Bryan and Kelly, Michael and Heather, Matthew and Alex, Madison, Ryan and Jesse, Christopher, Maggie and Jake, Katie and Mark, Molly, Kerrie, and Lily are some of his grandchildren.
Frances, Liam, Aera, Michael, Brooke, Taylor, Braxton, Clay, Tenley, and Georgia, are his great-grandchildren.
On July 6, 2022, at 11 AM, a funeral mass will be celebrated at Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane Burke, Virginia 22015. Thirty minutes before the funeral mass, there will be a brief visitation. Following the funeral liturgy, a burial will occur in Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia 22032.
