If you’ve begun watching Stranger Things 4, you’ve already seen flashbacks to Eleven’s time as a patient in Hawkins lab when she was a kid. You’ll also have noticed the striking similarities between the youthful Eleven and the Eleven we know and love.
It’s crazy, and viewers can’t decide if the cast and crew have somehow aged Millie Bobby Brown or cast a younger actress to play her. First, some background on how young Eleven was introduced into Season 4 of Stranger Things, and then the truth about who portrays her.
Brown, then 18 years old, told Variety that she and Blair collaborated closely on set to help Brown portray Eleven’s movements and reactions accurately. ‘Let me take you through what I went through and we’ll figure it out together,'” she explains. I thought it was lovely.
In addition, Brown revealed what it was like to float in the saltwater tank Eleven uses to access her suppressed childhood memories, why she trusts “Stranger Things” creators Matt and Ross Duffer so wholly, and her theory on what truly happened in the closing scene of Vol. In the first episode of Season 4: Eleven’s young self sends One (Jamie Campbell Bower) into the Upside Down, where he begins to change into Vecna.
Millie Bobby Brown directed the child actor who played young Eleven in Stranger Things
Have all of Millie Bobby Brown’s abilities been exhausted? As such, it probably won’t come as a surprise to learn that she took a role as a director on the set of Stranger Things 4 (to guide child actor Martie Blair as she played a young Eleven). It seems as though she did a fine job of it.
Since then, Martie has released more BTS images from her work on the program and her cooperation with Millie, telling fans that Millie was “such an inspiration” to her. She captioned a snapshot of herself and Millie Bobby Brown working together, “Thank you @milliebobbybrown for being such an inspiration to me. You came right up to me when I walked up on set.”

Thanks for taking the time to hang out with me and provide feedback on my scenes; I appreciate it. Each of them is also known by an equally famous acronym, shorthand. Martie wrote this about another set of images she posted: “Cheeky ladies!!!! MBB + MMB… Thank you, @milliebobbybrown, for being such a terrific role model; I will be forever thankful. #st4”
Wow, that’s some lovely feedback. Tweeted the Stranger Things authors (@strangerwriters): “Shout-out to Martie Blair, who played young Eleven, and Millie, who directed her every step of the way.” Following her performance as a young Eleven, fans have been effusive in their praise for Martie. One Instagram user gushed, “You are such a fantastic actress. I can’t wait to see you in your next job!!!” Another couldn’t believe how close Martie looks to her co-star Millie Bobby Brown (or MBB, of course), replying: “I thought it was CGI how they got young Eleven!”

In Season Three, Eleven Loses Her Powers After Battling The Mind Flayer
Eleven engages in combat with the Mind Flayer near the end of the third season, and as a result, she eventually loses her powers. The fourth season of Stranger Things focuses primarily on Eleven as she navigates through middle school and deals with bullies. Following the incident at the roller skating rink, Dr. Owens approaches Eleven and tells her that he wants to assist her in regaining her “superhero” status. Eleven must address the horrible events that occurred during her time in the Hawkins Laboratory with the assistance of Dr. Brenner and a sensory tank.

The official Stranger Things writers account on Twitter shared the news that Martie Blair will be playing the role of young Eleven in the show. She became a replica of Brown thanks to Brown’s assistance.
They thanked Martie Blair, who played little Eleven, and Millie, who guided her in every scene, in a tweet. “Shout-out to Martie Blair, who directed her every step of the way.” (Brown, now 18, began filming the series when she was around 11 years old; the first season was broadcast in 2016).
The post has been liked and shared by over 400,000 people and has received more than 37,000 retweets. Fans responded to the thread with GIFs expressing amazement and awe, praising the incredible work done behind the scenes. One commenter stated, “I’m not going to lie. I assumed they just changed Millie’s age.” I had no idea that you were talking about another person.

Who plays young Eleven in Stranger Things four?
Okay, so the fourth season’s first episode is a flashback to 1979 and the slaughter at Hawkins Laboratory. It was an incident for which Eleven was initially held responsible. In later episodes, Eleven is coerced into reliving these events and sees her younger self reflected in various mirrors throughout the lab. In contrast, Millie Bobby Brown did not appear as a younger version of herself in season four. Instead, Martie Blair, who is eight years old, plays Eleven. Sometimes Martie’s face is given a more youthful appearance by having Millie’s face superimposed on it, which means that it is layered on top of the existing layer.
