WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. — The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reported on Sunday night that the body of a missing 3-year-old boy was discovered in a retention pond. Near the end of Sunday afternoon, about 5 o’clock, an alert for a missing individual was broadcast. Axel Caballero, 3, was named in the FDLE notice. Deputies claimed he was autistic and lacked the ability to communicate verbally.

A search party had been organized by the authorities near Ponce De Leon Boulevard in the Winter Springs neighborhood where Axel was last seen.

Soon after the tip, authorities rushed in drones and search dogs and instructed nearby residents to return home. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office confirmed via Twitter that Axel’s body was recovered by the department’s dive squad from a nearby retention pond.
