Volunteers and law enforcement from various agencies are searching on land, in the air, and on the water for the missing 23-year-old South Carolina duck hunter who was last seen slipping from his waterlogged jon boat on Jan. 26. The search has now crossed state boundaries. On Monday, the 11th day of the hunt for Tyler Doyle, a young father with a second kid on the way.
Tyler Doyle reportedly fell overboard in choppy water while a companion watched from a nearby pier, according to his younger brother Reed Doyle. He claimed that after dropping a companion off on the jetty during their duck hunt, waves smashed in from behind due to his brother’s huge 90-horsepower outboard motor on the 16-foot boat.
In a video uploaded on TikTok, he claimed, “The waves took over the back of the boat and dragged Tyler with them.” Now that we’ve been looking for so long, it’s maddening not to know where he is or what to do.

Since then, no one has seen his brother. According to a representative for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR), many police and sheriff’s departments were aiding Monday’s deployment of planes and boats by the SCDNR. Along the Intracoastal Waterway, friends and family had also organized a volunteer boat and foot search.
According to local media, teams from Wilmington and Cape Fear were also participating in the search. In Horry County, close to the Little River jetties that connect the Intracoastal to the Atlantic Ocean, the North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad had been called in response to a report of a boat taking on water and sinking with two individuals on board.
They managed to save one man, but they were unable to locate Doyle. According to the Rescue Squad, which stopped participating in the search attempt on Saturday, choppy seas have hindered the search operation.
According to Myrtle Beach Online, Tyler Doyle’s wife posted on Facebook nearly a week after the incident that his waders and a number of decoys had been found close to Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
