As authorities investigate a shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Monterey Park, officers from neighbouring Alhambra converged on another location that may be relevant to the investigation. The second possible scene was found at the Lai Lai Ballroom and Studio, which was located on the 120 block of South Garfield Avenue. However, it is still unknown whether the two scenes are connected to one another.
Although the scene was evacuated by the police just before 7 o’clock in the morning, it is still unknown what relation, if any, may have been between the location in Alhambra and the spot where the mass shooting in Monterey Park took place. During the several hours that the authorities spent investigating, it appeared that the entire area was blocked off.

Early reports indicated that authorities were conducting a search to determine whether the suspect had gone to the ballroom 17 minutes after the mass shooting, which took place around three miles away from the incident that took place in Monterey Park. The cops claim that once there, a suspect of Asian descent entered the dance hall while armed, but the people there were able to disarm him.
It is believed that he departed the scene in a white cargo van, which is now a vehicle of interest. It is not apparent whether either incidence is related to the other or whether either incident involved the same suspect. During a press conference held on Sunday morning, Captain Andrew Meyer of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) stated, “We are aware of an event that occurred in Alhambra and we have investigators on scene trying to ascertain if there is a connection.”
“In this investigation, the detectives are following up on every possible clue. We are looking over all of the surveillance footage and following up on all of the leads. We are not going to overlook any details in our investigation “Meyer stressed. Sasha Renée Pérez, the Mayor of Alhambra, released a message on Twitter in which she indicated that
“The fact that this terrible event took place over the Lunar New Year weekend makes it that much more upsetting. One of the most significant Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in the United States is located in Monterey Park. At this time of year, residents should not be worried about being shot because they should be enjoying with their families, friends, and loved ones “Pérez remarked.
The Alhambra incident did not result in any injuries.
