Mount Dora Florida – – –

A Mount Dora firefighter stopped during a 5K race in Satellite Beach and jumped into action to save another runner who collapsed, city officials said Friday.

Firefighter Scott Creech, believing the man had a heart attack, stopped to perform CPR on the runner during the April 15 race, Mount Dora spokeswoman Lisa McDonald said. Creech was running in the To Write Love On Her Arms Run For It race in the Brevard County community.

The runner, who wished to remain anonymous, was successfully resuscitated and transported to an area hospital for treatment, McDonald said. Creech has worked for the city for 11 years.

To Write Love On Her Arms is a nonprofit that aims to help those suffering with depression and addiction.
