1. Cruel Intentions (1999)

A first appearance by Olivia Cooke in HBO’s House of Dragons is imminent. The actress has made remarkable strides to gain widespread recognition in Hollywood. Anya Taylor-Joy, another young Hollywood starlet, co-stars with her in the edgy thriller Thoroughbreds. The characters of Cooke and Joy, like Mendez and Hawke in Do Retribution, rely on one another to devise and carry out an emotionally restrained revenge plan.
To be sure, Thoroughbreds lives up to its description as a dark comedy far more so than Do Revenge. The plot’s stringent three-act setup and tight structure contribute to the increased tension and anxiety throughout the play. It’s one of the most impressive teen thriller movies of recent years, yet it’s still under the radar and waiting to be discovered by you.
4. The Craft (1996)
The second part of the picture, featuring a more sinister Eleanor, was reminiscent of The Craft in its air of menace. The rules of courtship and adolescence are thrown out the window in this wild movie. Compared to the rest of the list, The Craft is undoubtedly the most original option. But the film’s odd reality isn’t supported by a polished plot, so it ends up being a letdown.
Although Heathers is also included on the list, the best sequel to Do Revenge is undoubtedly The Craft. The Netflix film is not overly supernatural in its storytelling. A dark turn in the second half gives it some resemblances. It completely changes the film’s aesthetic, and while it doesn’t make a big deal, the change doesn’t disrupt the story.
5. Thelma & Louise (1991)
The chemistry between Maya Hawke’s Eleanor and Camilla Mendez’s Drea is one of the film’s most intriguing features. The success of the film hinged on the likability of the female team. The story would not have been able to survive without it. Thankfully, the two were able to play off one another effectively, and the resemblance to the legendary female criminal duo Thelma and Louise was unmistakable.
However, the nature of their cooperation and the shared experiences that bring them together on those travels are distinctive. This vengeance plot can potentially develop into a film in the vein of Thelma & Louise if a sequel is made. There’s a chance that giving it a modernist makeover wouldn’t be a good idea at all.
6. Easy A (2010)
The sincerity of execution sets Easy A apart, a teen drama that is both emotionally and sensitively rendered. You couldn’t be too far off base if you called this one of the most relatable films about high school. Because of the way it ebbs and flows, it manages to forecast the sweet and wicked moments that so many films fail to capture. This is a great chance to try Easy A because, despite its greatness, it has been on the periphery for far too long.
The characters in Easy A and Do Revenge are well developed, making them similar despite the films’ different settings. To have faith that the characters on screen are written and played honestly can make a big difference. Even a stale plot might feel endearing when you care about the characters. 7. 10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
10 Things I Hate About You is another teen flick with a considerable fanbase and promising new faces in leading roles. Another one with an unusual premise: the girl the protagonist likes won’t date unless her sister does; therefore, the protagonist hires a charming guy to woo the sister instead.
Having a one-of-a-kind offering is one thing, but backing it up effectively is another. Not soon will I forget Heath Ledger’s spectacular performance atop the field’s stairs, belting out the song to the delight of fans everywhere. Like, Do Revenge before it, 10 Things flips genre conventions for a new take on storytelling.
The picture runs smoothly because of the three actors’ natural performances. Ledger, Stiles, and Gordon-Levitt have remarkable chemistry, adding distinctive nuances to their personalities.
There are no acts of vengeance in the novel, but many of the stereotypical high school characters are found in modern films. If you like Do Revenge, this is a must-see. They weren’t as archaic and grating as they are now.
8. Clueless (1995)
We still think of Clueless as Jane Austen’s Emma transplanted into a contemporary high school because that’s how it’s remembered. Taking a sardonic and cynical look at teen flicks and Beverly Hills, Clueless is a satirical mash-up. Outside of that, the actors and the direction are both charming.
Clueless, like Do Revenge, focuses on the pastel-hued ideal of wealthy high school students having a fling. These films portray high school life similarly, particularly in establishing the various groups and the students’ underlying goals.
While Do Revenge came close to doing the same way, it failed to ultimately play on the existential perspective that Clueless used to significant effect for its protagonist. The movie was a commercial success, but it also created a cult following for stars like Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, and Brittany Murphy. Do Revenge’s front three are like the story’s throbbing heart: the lovely trio.
