A hiker who went missing on Mount Baldy in California has been found. They are still looking for Julian Sands almost two weeks after he went hiking on the same mountain.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff said in a press release on Tuesday that 75-year-old Jim Chung had been found alive.
The man from Los Angeles “suffered some weather-related injuries and a leg injury but was able to walk out with the assistance of the crew members,” the sheriff’s department said.
Someone took him to a hospital. The sheriff’s office did not say anything about his health.
The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department also said that “ground and air search efforts” are still being done to find Sands, who is 65 years old.
“As of this time, Mr. Sands has not been found and no evidence of his current location has been discovered. The search will continue, weather and ground conditions permitting,” the sheriff’s department said.

Nick Sands, the actor’s brother, has come out and said that he thinks Julian, whom he calls “Jules,” is “gone.”
“He has not yet been declared missing, presumed dead, but I know in my heart that he has gone,” Nick told the Craven Herald & Pioneer.
“However sibling rivalry being what it is, it would be just like him to walk out of there and prove me wrong,” he added.
Since October, Nick hasn’t seen Julian. On Monday, January 30, they were supposed to get together with their other three brothers, Quentin, Robin, and Jeremy, for a special brothers’ gathering.
“On Monday, he had planned to join his brothers for our Monday Club for a beer in Skipton; he will be missed, and I guess we will raise a glass to him,” Nick said.
Mount Baldy is a popular place to hike, and it’s only an hour’s drive from downtown Los Angeles. However, Mount Baldy has killed people many times.
Nick told the outlet that this was one of Julian’s favourite mountains.
“When in LA, the Mt. Baldy mountain range was his favorite place, he would go there as often as he could, Julian liked to say ‘I have never had a holiday but I do rest occasionally,'” Nick said. “Well he’s resting now in a place he would truly approve of.”
Nick said more about Julian’s love of hiking: “It was the hills and mountains where Julian really got his energy back. He started hiking in the Yorkshire Dales, which led to him climbing famous mountains like the Matterhorn and the Eiger, which were hard to climb but gave him a lot of satisfaction.”
Julian got married to Eugenia Citkowitz in 1990, and she reported him missing on Friday, January 13.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that both experienced and inexperienced hikers can “underestimate” the power of Mount Baldy’s bad weather and high winds. The same weather can also make it hard for authorities and volunteer rescuers to find lost or hurt hikers.
The sheriff’s office told hikers to stay away from dangerous mountain areas like Mt. Baldy right now.
