A bus operated by the Utah Transit Authority collided with a number of cars on Thursday during rush hour in downtown Salt Lake City, injuring numerous passengers. At the crossroads of 300 West and North Temple, where many roadways were blocked to all traffic, a police spokesperson described the situation as “chaotic.” To help the Salt Lake City Police Department, a number of agencies arrived at the scene of the collision.
According to police, a driver of one car may have experienced a medical emergency and struck the bus as it was moving eastbound on North Temple. After that, two more cars were struck by the bus in the intersection. One of the drivers involved in the collision was Dustin Posell. He claimed that, as is customary for him, he was taking his Toyota Prius home from work. The bus slammed into him as he was stopped at a red signal.
Posell remarked that the bus driver “looked pretty disturbed up.” “I noticed him thinking, ‘What just happened?’ You know, you lock eyes with someone, and I just noticed him as soon as the incident with the automobile began. He called the encounter “frightening” and expressed gratitude that he is fine. Posell noted that numerous others approached to offer assistance when they witnessed what was happening.
While the bus driver, two passengers, and the car’s driver all sustained non-life-threatening wounds, the car’s driver was seriously hurt. “Everyone who was on that bus deserves our deepest sympathies. Our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals involved in this event “said Brent Weisberg, the Salt Lake City police’s public affairs officer. It could have been worse, but it’s a scary scenario, you know.” UTA authorities told FOX 13 News that they are presently investigating the accident and determining what went wrong.
