Naomi Judd’s Early Life
Charles Glen and Pauline Ruth “Polly” Judd gave birth to Judd on 11 January 1946 in Ashland. Her father had a convenience store. Naomi Judd’s first child, Christina Claire Ciminella (later Wynonna Judd), was born when Judd was 18. Her brother Brian died of leukemia at the age of 17 in 1965. As soon as Judd’s lover and Wynonna’s biological father Charles Jordan left her for Michael Ciminella, she swiftly married him.
Her first baby was given the last name Ciminella in honor of her new husband. While completing nursing school at California’s College of Marin in nearby Lagunitas and beginning a successful singing career with daughter Wynonna after the birth of her daughter Ashley (in 1968), Judd brought up both kids as a single parent after the breakdown of her marriage to Ciminella.
As a divorced mother of two young daughters, she realized that her name, Diana, did not fit “her own spiritual, rural Kentucky conception of her true heritage,” so she decided to honor the Biblical figure, Naomi, finding resonance in her story of moving to a new country and eventually being left alone to raise two women.
Naomi Judd’s Personal Life
Wynonna, who was born in 1964, and Ashley were Judd’s two daughters (born 1968). Wynonna is a musician and was the other member of their band, The Judds when it was just the two of them. On May 6, 1989, Judd married her second husband, Larry Strickland, who was a member of the Palmetto State Quartet.
Naomi Judd’s Cause of Death Was a Self-Inflicted Firearm Wound, Daughter Ashley Reveals in New Interview
Ashley Judd, Naomi Judd’s daughter, revealed her mother’s cause of death as a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Thursday morning. Naomi Judd, 75, died on April 30. “Good Morning America” invited Ashley Judd to speak with Diane Sawyer about her mother’s death and how she and the rest of the Judd family have been dealing with it since. She explained that her family wished to keep the details of the tragedy under wraps until an autopsy was performed.
In response to Ashley’s statement, Sawyer inquired as to whether or not Ashley’s mother had ever used a weapon. Because we are in a situation where someone else will say it if we don’t say it ourselves, this is the knowledge that we are most reluctant to share. Ashley stated that she was given the authority by her family to talk about her mother’s death in order to raise awareness of the disease and provide a path for those in need.
When talking about mental illness, it’s crucial to be explicit and to clarify the distinction between our loved one and the disorder,” she stated. It’s brutal and full of deception. Even though her mother was about to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Ashley said she couldn’t bear to face cancer any longer.

‘Our mother couldn’t hold on till she was admitted by her peers,’ she added. As a result, “that level of catastrophe” was occurring inside of her, because the barrier between their affection for her and its deception was so convincing. “That is what I mean by ‘catastrophe.'” Ashley also described the closing hours of her mother’s life.
There were a lot of ups and downs today, she said. As is customary while I’m home in Tennessee, I stopped by to see my mother and father. When my mother asked me if I would like to stay with her, I replied, “Of course, I will.” I went upstairs to tell her that her buddy was there, and I found her. Her discovery has left me reeling with both grief and trauma.”
The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-8255) was another resource she recommended to her followers in case they were in need of assistance. Immediately following their mother’s death, Ashley Judd and her sister Wynonna made a statement blaming her death on “the disease of mental illness.” The statement reads, “Today we sisters endured a catastrophe,” according to AP. As a family, we are devastated by the loss of our mother to mental illness.” We’re in pieces. We’re dealing with a lot of loss right now, but we know how much her fans adored her, too. We’re venturing into uncharted waters.”
Immediately following the death of Naomi Judd, Wynonna and her mother, Naomi Judd, were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. “I didn’t prepare anything tonight since I knew mum would talk the most,” Wynonna informed the crowd during the induction. This is going to be fast because my heart is crushed and I am so grateful. ” Weird dynamic to be broken and blessed at the same time… Since we sing, “I’ll keep singing even though my heart is destroyed.”
