Cases of monkeypox are still increasing, both in Florida and elsewhere. The Florida Department of Health noted 442 confirmed or likely cases of monkeypox in 22 counties as of August 1. The state recorded 273 cases in 16 counties a week ago; since July 25 there have been an additional 169 probable or confirmed cases.

It should be mentioned that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) record 5,189 total confirmed monkeypox / orthopoxvirus cases in the U.S. as of August 1 and 373 of those were in Florida. The CDC reported 2,891 cases in the U.S. as of July 22; this is an increase of about 2,300 cases in just 10 days. On May 22, Florida made the initial announcement of a presumed positive case. According to the tracker on flhealthcharts.gov, the state department of health recorded 442 confirmed or probable cases in 16 counties.
