Ex-NHL player Nicolas Kerdiles was killed in a motorbike accident on Saturday in Nashville, according to local authorities. He was 29.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the former Anaheim Ducks ran a stop sign early Saturday morning and crashed with the driver’s side of an SUV. The SUV driver removed over quickly, and neither driver displayed any symptoms of impairment, according to the authorities.

It was at Vanderbilt University Medical Center when Kerdiles passed away. In this mishap, police do not hope any charges to be filed. Kerdiles was chosen by the Ducks in 2012 and played with them for two seasons, totaling three games in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

In 2018, he was sent to the Winnipeg Jets from the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League. Recently, he has been employed in the Nashville real estate industry.

“We’re heartbroken to hear the news about Nic Kerdiles,” the Ducks posted on social media Saturday. “An Irvine native, Nic became the first player from Orange County to play for the Ducks in 2017. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his family and loved ones.”

The national governing body of hockey, USA Hockey, said its “heartbreak” over Kerdiles’ death on social media. Kerdiles was a hearty contributor to Team USA’s two gold medal performances in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s Under-18 World Championship, the group said.

His collegiate hockey team, the Wisconsin Badgers, also expressed their sadness for Kerdiles on social media, praising his “great spirit as part of our Badger family.”
