DALLAS — The State Fair of Texas ended an hour earlier than scheduled on Friday night due to crowds fearing that shots had been fired on the fairgrounds and fairgoers seeking to “cause disorder,” according to the officials who ran the event.
At approximately 8:50 p.m., a huge throng was seen exiting Fair Park and, as reported by the Dallas Police Department, police were dispatched to the location after the incident.
People can be seen in videos and images that are going viral on social media running and hiding throughout the fairgrounds while they are clearly in a state of panic and do not know what is going on. Other users of social media publicly stated that they had personal experience hearing gunfire during the event.
Officers conducted an investigation into the event, and their findings revealed that there was no active shooter and that no rounds were fired.

According to the officials, there were also no reports of any injuries.
According to Karissa Condoianis, a representative for the fair, some attendees were “trying to create mayhem” by sprinting around the fairgrounds. This information was shared with WFAA.
A representative for the organisation said that everything returned to normal on the midway and across the fairgrounds not long after the incident and that people immediately began forming lines for rides and food stalls.
Despite this, the fair ended its daily activities on Friday at ten o’clock, an hour earlier than it normally would have at eleven o’clock, due to the event that occurred earlier in the day.
