Unsettling footage shows an Iranian girl being physically assaulted by police after taking off her headscarf in the midst of the violent protests that have erupted in the nation since a young woman died after being detained for allegedly breaking dress codes.
The girl removed her headscarf in front of security personnel, according to the video posted by London-based Iran International, and was then beaten and knocked to the ground, according to the Times of Israel.
“This video, obtained by @IranIntl, shows an Iranian girl who has removed her hijab and opens her arms to the security forces, but is brutally beaten,” the news outlet posted on Twitter.

Since Mahsa Amini, 22, passed away in state custody on September 16 following her arrest by the dreaded Morality Police for letting her hair show through her headscarf, at least 41 people have died, according to the Israeli news outlet. She had been detained for letting her hair peek out from under her headscarf.
The majority of those killed were protesters, although there were also security personnel from the Islamic Republic.
The Times of Israel said that the Oslo-based Iran Human Rights organisation has put the total number of victims at 57, including just demonstrators.
According to the outlet, authorities reported that 1,200 protesters had been detained as a result of the violence on Monday.
Hardline The rallies were denounced as “riots” by Iran’s “enemy” by the president on Saturday, sending a message that violent actions against protesters will continue.
According to official media, Raisi said Iran must “deal decisively with those who threaten the country’s security and tranquillity.”
