Authorities reported that one person had passed away following a shooting on Saturday afternoon close to the Salt Palace Convention Center. According to Brent Weisberg, a Salt Lake City Police Department spokesman, the shooting occurred outside the convention center at around 3:15 p.m. near 150 S. West Temple.
A person with critical injuries was discovered on the ground by police officers, and they treated the person before an ambulance took them to the hospital. Weisberg said that the patient later passed away at the hospital. The victim’s identity was kept secret by the authorities.
Investigators think a fight between several individuals who had just left the Salt Palace’s Sneaker Con Salt Lake City contributed to the shooting. According to witness accounts, according to Weisberg, the suspects left right away, most likely in a car.
Authorities continue to investigate while reviewing local CCTV footage. Although the suspects are still at large, according to the police, there is no current threat to the community. According to the authorities, anyone with additional information about the shooting is urged to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
