According to police, a motorist struck and killed a woman in her 60s who was crossing the street near a mall in Orting on Wednesday morning. The state highway that passes through the heart of the city, the 300 block of Washington Avenue North, is close to where the crash took place.
Outside of school hours, according to Police Chief Devon Gabreluk, the permitted speed in that region is 25 mph. Police were called to a report of a car striking a pedestrian at around 5:55 in the morning, according to a press release from the City of Orting. The victim’s identity has not been made public.

The woman was discovered to be dead at the scene when police and emergency officials arrived, according to the announcement. According to officials, the vehicle that hit the woman stayed on the scene and dialled 911. Police reported that the driver showed no signs of intoxication, and they do not currently believe that excessive speed played a role in the crash.
