After the exciting end of Season 4, Part 1 (the first half of the show’s last season), you might have thought you knew how the second half of the show’s last season would go.
With cartel leader Omar Navarro (Felix Dolis) in prison, Javi Elizonndro (Alfonso Herrera) took full control and made a nice deal with the US government. With this protection, he went and killed Darlene Snell and Wyatt Langmore, which made Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner angry. It would make sense to think that Ruth and Javi’s growing fight would be the source of most of the drama in the last few episodes.
This did not happen. Ruth follows Javi to Chicago in the first episode of Season 4, Part 2, and kills him right in front of Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), Wendy Byrde (Laura Linney), and Clare Shaw. This is an interesting twist on what most people would expect (Katrina Lenk). But we saw that you can never get rid of the cartel, both during the show and at the end. The cartel does not give up. And things are always changing. We saw Javi talking with his mother, Camila Elizonndro (Veronica Falcón), earlier in that first episode.
At first, it seemed like Camila might be a small part of the Ozark story, but she turned out to be one of the most important characters of all. Camila has the most effect on how the show goes and where things end up.

Who is Camila in Ozark?
In Ozark, Camila is the mother of Javi Elizonndro, the leader of the cartel and a hothead with an MBA. She is also the sister of Omar Navarro, who was the leader of the cartel before Maya Miller of the FBI blew the whole thing up and got him arrested.
Knowing that Camila is Omar’s sister makes things a little confusing when you remember that Camila was the one who put out a hit on Omar and tried to have him killed in prison. But then you have to remember that Omar told the Byrdes to make sure that everyone in Omar’s group thought that he, not Ruth Langmore, was the one who killed Javi. He wanted it to look like he was taking over and making himself the leader.
So, this is why Camila tried to have him killed in prison, and this is also why (spoiler alert!) Camila eventually killed Ruth. She was getting even for Javi’s death, no matter who was to blame, whether it was her brother or a young trailer park resident.
In the end, Camila takes over as the new leader of the cartel. She shows that she is just as good at violence (the murders) and business (the deal with the FBI) as her brother and son. Camila is a living example of the idea that you can’t beat some dangerous institutions; all you can do is put the problem off until later.
Camila in Ozark is Veronica Falcón
Falcón is an actress, but she is also a dancer and a choreographer. She was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, so she has been acting and dancing in Spanish-language projects for decades.
Falcón moved her career to the United States in 2016, when she was 50 years old. This was the first time in her career that she looked for roles in English. Queen of the South, a TNT show on which she was a star for three seasons and 39 episodes, gave her a big break in America.
A Longtime Actor, Falcón Has Created a Name for Herself on Television in the Last Several Years
She has acted in a few films, including Jungle Cruise and Voyagers, although her best-known performances have been in television shows. Queen of the South isn’t the only place she’s featured on HBO; she also appeared in an episode of Room 104 and Season 2 of Marc Cherry’s Why Women Kill at Paramount+.
In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Falcón played the mentor of the villain Karli Morgenthau, a character who is often mentioned but never seen by fans of superhero movies (many believe she originally had a larger role that was cut down). Fans of HBO’s Perry Mason may recall her as Matthew Rhys’ love interest, who was also a successful aviator and landowner.
Season 2 of Perry Mason and Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, a film based on the novel of the same name, are the next projects for Falcón.
