The Fast and Furious star Paul Walker was killed when the automobile he was driving crashed at over 100 mph and caught fire, according to a coroner’s report made public on Friday. On November 30, 2013, in Los Angeles, the bodies of Walker, age 40, and his friend and financial advisor Roger Rodas were discovered in a burned-out Porsche Carrera GT.

Walker succumbed to both traumatic and thermal injuries, while Rodas was killed by a combination of blunt force trauma and internal bleeding. Both men tested negative for the presence of any drugs or alcohol.

The Los Angeles coroner’s investigator, Kristy McCracken, said the automobile was going too fast for conditions heading east. The driver lost control for some reason, as the car partially swung around and headed southeast.

“The vehicle then struck a sidewalk and the driver’s side struck a tree and then a lightpost. The force of these collisions caused the vehicle to spin 180 degrees and it continued to travel in an easterly direction,” the report states.

“The passenger side of the vehicle then struck a tree and it then burst into flames.”

There was “major traffic collision damage all around and it appeared that the vehicle was almost split in half,” the coroner stated of the Porsche’s condition. There was no indication of wrongdoing in the report.

When the accident occurred, Walker was still shooting for Fast and Furious 7. The movie will most likely premiere sometime in the fall. Rodas was a professional race car driver in addition to owning a racing team with Walker.
