The Cauliflower Alley Club took to social media to announce the passing of Peggy Lee, a professional wrestler active in WWE in the early 1980s. They put her age at 64. Lee passed away on Monday morning; PW Insider does not report the cause of death.

“It’s with the heaviest of hearts we announce the passing of the legendary Peggy Lee Leather at the age of 64. Our sincerest condolences to her family, friends and fans worldwide,” Cauliflower Alley Club said. “Thank you so much for the everlasting memories left behind during your journey in life. R.I.P.”

After being mentored by WWE Hall of Famer The Fabulous Moolah, Lee (also known as Peggy Lee Leather) debuted as a professional wrestler in 1980. Wendi Richter and Lee challenged Princes Victoria and Velvet McIntyre for the Women’s Tag Team Championship while Lee was a member of WWE.

Wrestling Inc. notes that Lee took home the Ladies Major League Wrestling International Championship in 1990 for her maiden career crown. After that, she became champion of the Ladies Professional Wrestling Association and kept that title for 388 days.

Lee also won the NWA World Women’s Championship in 1994 and the National Wrestling League Women’s Championship three times. After losing to Jade at Women of Wrestling’s Superheroes #3.01 – Redemption in 2013, she decided to call it quits in the ring.

“Today we honor the life and trailblazing legacy of Peggy Fowler,” one person on Twitter wrote. “With a pro wrestling career spanning over a 30-year period, Peggy was known to many fans by her ring names: Peggy Lee Leather and Thug.”

A second individual chimed in, “Saddened to read of the demise of badass ring veteran, “Peggy Lee Leather” (aka Peggy Lee) at the age of 64. In the WWF, she and heel Wendy Richter competed for the Women’s Tag Team Championship as Moolah’s hardest trainees. The AWA, WCW, WWC, and Japan were all stops on her journey.
