PnB Rock, real name Rakim Hasheem Allen, was a famous American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was born on December 9, 1991, and died on September 12, 2022. His most successful hit, “Selfish,” peaked at #51 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2016, and he also appeared on Ed Sheeran’s “Cross Me” as a guest artist alongside Chance the Rapper.

He also contributed uncredited vocals to XXXTentacion’s top 20 hit track “Changes.” Both Catch These Vibes (2017) and TrapStar Turnt PopStar (2019) served as studio albums, with the latter reaching the top five of the Billboard 200. Allen is one of the Freshmen in the 2017 XXL Team.

PnB Rock Early Life

Philadelphia’s Germantown is where Rakim Hasheem Allen entered the world on December 9, 1991. Because his father was killed when Allen was only three years old, his mother was primarily responsible for his upbringing. He spent his formative years in the Northeast section of Philadelphia. He developed an ear for hip-hop via 2Pac and R&B via Jodeci. Allen was transferred to a juvenile correctional center at 13 for committing robberies and getting into fights at school.

For various offenses, including drug possession, he received a 33-month prison sentence when he turned 19. After serving his time in jail, Allen briefly experienced homelessness. He dropped out of school before graduating. In honor of the intersection of Pastorius and Baynton, near where Allen lived as a child in Germantown, he came to perform under the moniker PnB Rock.

PnB Rock’s first mixtape, titled Real N*gga Bangaz, dropped on June 24, 2014. In prison, he composed the songs for the mixtape. PnB Rock’s first effort after signing with Atlantic Records was the release of his third mixtape, RnB3, in 2015. Its June 2016 release, “Selfish,” reached #51 on the Billboard Hot 100. On their “10 New Artists You Need to Know” list, published in October 2016, he was one of the ten he was on.

GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions, his second retail mixtape album, was released by Atlantic Records and Empire Distribution on January 10, 2017. The album entered the US Billboard 200 at position #28. Subsequently, in April 2017, he released “Gang Up,” featuring Young Thug, 2 Chainz, and Wiz Khalifa, and “Horses,” featuring Kodak Black and A Boogie wit da Hoodie, all of which was on the soundtrack of The Fate of the Furious.

PnB Rock, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Playboi Carti, Ugly God, Kyle, Aminé, MadeinTYO, Kamaiyah, Kap G, and XXXTentacion, was chosen to XXL’s “2017 Freshman Class” in June 2017.

In May of this year, he released his first studio album, TrapStar Turnt PopStar. The song “Cross Me” by Ed Sheeran features PnB Rock and Chance the Rapper from Sheeran’s No.6 Collaborations Project album. PnB Rock’s song “Ordinary,” which included the late rapper Pop Smoke, was released in January 2020, and his guest appearance on “Rose Gold,” which featured the late rapper King Von, was released in January 2021.

SoundCloud Daze was a mixtape published by PnB Rock in February 2022. It included several different musicians, including Pasto Flocco and Yung Fazo. On September 2, 2022, he self-released what would be his final song, “Luv Me Again.

PnB Rock’s Cause of Death

The coroner has decided that PnB Rock was murdered. The Medical Examiner-Coroner for Los Angeles County agreed on Friday that the 30-year-old rapper died from gunshot wounds to the back and chest.

The coroner said he passed away while receiving medical care. On Monday, Rakim Hasheem Allen, also known as PnB Rock, was shot and killed at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N’ Waffles, where he was having lunch with his girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang.

The “Fleek” rapper was approached by a suspect, who is still at large and has not been identified by investigators, and told to hand over his jewels and other valuables. The man then produced a gun and fired multiple shots toward PnB Rock.

According to The Los Angeles Times, on Tuesday, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore said it was likely an Instagram post tipped the assailant to the rapper’s whereabouts. Sibounheuang had posted an Instagram Story of their lunch shortly before the event. The tweet was ultimately taken down. Additionally, Sibounheuang has removed her Instagram account. The couple’s kid, Xuri, is 2 years old. The rapper also had a daughter named Milan, who was eight years old.

PnB Rock discussed the plight of Los Angeles rappers with DJ Akademiks in one of his final interviews, recorded about a week before his untimely death. “He added, “I never got robbed, but it’s so prevalent.” Never before in my entire life.”

He said, “I refuse to rule out the possibility. I try to avoid using the word “never” whenever possible. Although I don’t believe in superstition, I have never been robbed.”
He stated that I’m not putting myself in such circumstances because I know what happens there. In response to DJ Akademiks’ observation that rappers are easy “targets,” PnB Rock said he “move different” ever since his “oldest brother got assassinated.”

“When that s—- hits your crib, you know this is real life. I’ve seen people die. I’ve been around people that died. There is a risk that anyone could perish. It could be anyone. Sometimes tragedy strikes when you least expect it.” PnB Rock was asked if this made him “nervous,” to which he responded, “alert.”
