Police Say a Woman Was Discovered Dead Inside a Lake County Jail Cell

Here we are talking about Police Say a Woman Was Discovered Dead Inside a Lake County Jail Cell. A lady was discovered dead inside her cell on Friday afternoon, and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office is now investigating. A Lake County prison officer saw the detainee, a 24-year-old Grand Prairie, Texas woman, on the cell bed with her eyes closed at 2:30 p.m. while performing routine rounds in the jail’s medical pod.

The female officer observed that her chest was not rising. According to Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli, they discovered her lifeless and without a pulse when they unlocked the cell door at that point.

The policeman called for an ambulance and started a medical emergency reaction. Officers treated the inmate with CPR and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) until paramedics arrived. She was sent to Waukegan’s Vista East Medical Center, where she was later declared dead.

The prisoner has been detained since July 1 due to allegations of severe child abuse. The jail was waiting for a room to open up at the Illinois Department of Human Services so the inmate could be moved there for fitness restoration treatment after she was recently deemed unable to stand trial, according to Covelli.

The prisoner was given a single-inmate cell pod to stay in a while waiting to be transported. The door to the prisoner’s cell was locked, and no other prisoners were in the area. According to Covelli, the inmate appeared to be in good health during rounds that were conducted at least 30 minutes before this occurrence.

The prisoner had some underlying medical issues, and there didn’t seem to be any unusual bruises or marks on the woman’s body. The Lake County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy on the body on Monday. As a separate investigation, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force looks into the matter.
