On Sunday, an elderly man from Oakland County, Michigan, who was 81 years old, passed away after his ice sailboat capsized on Pontiac Lake. According to the information provided by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, 81-year-old Dan Erwin Campbell of Independence Township passed away on Sunday as a result of an accident that occurred while he was operating a 27-foot ice sailboat.

He reportedly made it to the furthest eastern area of Pontiac Lake before crashing just before 12 p.m. Officials believe he was roughly 100 yards from shore when he went down. The authorities suspect that the 81-year-old man banged his head on the ice, although the reason for the accident was not immediately known.
At the time of the accident, Campbell was protecting his head with both a helmet and a face shield. The individual was taken to a nearby hospital, where a physician afterward confirmed that he had passed away. According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office (Facebook), the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
