President Biden, Please Provide Ukraine With The Assistance They Require Right Away

There should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that the American people support the people of Ukraine. Joe Biden, on the other hand, has continued to respond to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s appeals for assistance with weakness and delay, limiting Ukraine’s ability to protect its borders and oppose Russia’s invasion. During Zelenskyy’s speech to Congress, he urged President Biden to be “the world’s leader.” Joe Biden’s lack of leadership has resulted in war through weakness, rather than peace through strength, for Zelenskyy, Ukraine, the United States, and the rest of the world.

While Zelenskyy is inspiring the world and rising to the challenge of a horrific situation in his country, the Biden administration has been far too sluggish to implement sanctions, not just in terms of implementation but also in terms of the lack of total restrictions on Russian energy and industries. This followed a week-long gas scarcity in the United States caused by Russian hackers shutting down the Colonial Pipeline. Rather than holding Russia accountable, President Biden met with Putin in June and presented him with a list of essential infrastructure that should be “off-limits” to Russian-backed cyber attacks, according to reports. Biden most likely gave Putin a list of targets. Biden had numerous opportunities to hold Putin accountable and demonstrate strength, but he failed miserably, handing Putin multiple victories.

Biden previously stated that he could go toe-to-toe with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Joe Biden, on the other hand, has sold off American energy independence to our adversaries and jeopardized our national security since taking office. Putin has benefited from Biden’s actions. Putin isn’t the only one who thinks this way. Joe Biden’s appalling failures on the world stage have been assessed and measured by our opponents all around the world, especially after Biden’s disastrous departure and surrender in Afghanistan. Europe is currently experiencing its most serious national security crisis since World War II ended. Because Biden is incapable of leadership, the globe is in chaos, and Vladimir Putin is attempting to fill the void.

Biden should have acted quickly and decisively to destroy Russia’s economy and impose serious, irreversible consequences on Putin’s corrupt dictatorship long ago. Instead, his postponed oil embargo on Russia arrived far too late. House Republicans have been unanimous in pressing for strong, punitive penalties for months, well before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. And we are committed to ensuring that the Ukrainian people receive the guns and ammunition they require as soon as possible. Our country proudly supports the Ukrainian people and their unwavering courage in the face of a ruthless tyrant as they protect their sovereign country. Peace is possible, but it can only last if the US and NATO work together and respond forcefully.

It is evident that the US can and should do more to assist our Ukrainian allies. We must put an end to any delays in delivering Ukraine with deadly aid, including MiGs, as well as the immediate humanitarian assistance they require. The US must also use every economic weapon at its disposal to impair Russia’s economy, including stronger sanctions aimed at the Russian energy industry.
