Princess Madeleine Moves Back To Sweden
Princess Madeleine of Sweden celebrated her 42nd birthday this week with a delightful family portrait and some exciting news. In an Instagram post, the Swedish royal family shared an adorable photo of Madeleine with her husband, Christopher O’Neill, and their three children, Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne. Along with the picture, the post announced that the family will be moving back to Sweden after living in Florida since 2018.
“Princess Madeleine and family are now moving home to Sweden. After several years as foreigners, Princess and Mr. Christopher O’Neill have decided that the family should for now reside in Stockholm,” the caption read.
Originally, the family planned to move back in the summer of 2023, but the timeline was pushed back due to the complexities of relocating. Madeleine, the youngest daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, is currently eighth in line to the Swedish throne.
In recent years, the Swedish royals streamlined the family by stripping some official titles from the youngest generation, including Madeleine’s children, who kept their “Prince and Princess” titles but lost the HRH (His or Her Royal Highness) standing.
Madeleine supported this decision, expressing that it gives her children a better chance to shape their own lives as private individuals. Now, after almost a decade abroad in London and Florida, the family is ready to embrace life back in Sweden.
