He had been ill for a few days before he was finally admitted to the hospital, where pneumonia was determined to be his condition.

In order to commemorate his wife Alejandra Silva‘s 40th birthday, Richard Gere traveled to Mexico with his family. The actor had a cough before his visit if TMZ’s stories are to be believed. He apparently felt the need to seek medical help as his condition reportedly deteriorated.
He apparently received a lung cancer diagnosis after presenting himself to a hospital close to his Nuevo Vallarta holiday house. According to reports, the Officer And A Gentleman star spent one night in the hospital receiving treatment for his condition. Antibiotics were reportedly provided for the actor’s recovery.

Richard Gere’s Wife Provides A Health Update
On her birthday, Alejandra Gere, the wife of actor Richard Gere, posted a rare photo of herself with their two kids on Instagram. On a beach, the three of them were observed strolling.
In the caption she wrote, “Thank you all for the birthday wishes.. after almost 3 weeks of everyone being sick in our family today, finally I feel much better! Thank you for all the love (red heart emoji). I give it all back to you! (star emoji) #happybirthday #happy40.”
In 2018, Silva, a Spanish publicist by trade, wed Gere on his expansive estate in upstate New York. The two were allegedly longtime family friends. Alexander, the couple’s four-year-old son, is the second kid they had together. Their 2-year-old son’s name has not yet been released to the public.
